Tolls
How does the E-Toll Toll service work?
Adhere to the E-Toll activation device at the beginning of your rental contract in order to avoid fines and notifications. According to Portuguese law, all rental vehicles are equipped with ViaVerde devices for toll processing. The customer is responsible for paying the toll amount to the rental company. For the management, processing and collection of tolls, the rental company charges a fee called ETOLL.
How to pay tolls?
Tolls relating to Motorway tickets associated with the rental contract are processed at the end of the rental and up to 120 days after it (due to delays in the motorway concessionaires’ system). The amount determined at the end of the rental will be charged to the credit card associated with the rental on record. If it is impossible to charge the card, the driver’s data will be shared with the concessionaires so that they can notify the driver to charge the appropriate tolls.

A joint damage check is carried out at the beginning of the rental and a joint check at the end of the rental. Any additional damage recorded during the final check is the responsibility of the customer depending on the Terms and Conditions and the coverage subscribed.

Insurance taken out with a third party is reimbursement insurance, meaning that the customer is responsible for paying for damage to the vehicle that occurred during the rental, and can then submit a reimbursement request to the insurer.

It is important that all fields are correctly filled in and that the declaration is signed by the parties involved in the accident, so that it can be claimed from the insurance company. Whenever there is disagreement between the parties, the competent authorities must be called to prepare a police report.
In both cases, the driver must deliver all documentation relating to the accident, as well as our vehicle in their possession, to a YNOT station in order to resolve the process as quickly as possible. An email contact must also be provided, so that information regarding the completion of the process can be sent.
